Blankets On, Blankets Off

Temperature swings are typical for NC winters but this year has been a challenge. From heavy snow to freezing rain to warm, sunny days – all in the same week! Knowing when to blanket the horses and then remove them keeps us focused on the weather. Our automatic waterers have definitely reduced the time spent in the cold weather breaking ice on traditional water troughs and proactive planning on drainage has paid off by minimizing the mud. Not my favorite time of the year in farm management but definitely gives you time to plan next steps and dream of warmer days.
